Este amplificador pm 5004 e o leitor de cd 5004 foram testados por uma revista de referência a Stereophile. Inicialmente o critico pensava tratar-se de mais um simples amplificador integrado até ter ouvido o seu som, inclusive fez uma comparação com amplificadores Hi End de custo várias vezes superior. Isto só foi possivel devido a tecnologia que a Marantz utiliza nos seus amplificadores de topo.
Pude fazer uma audição a este amplificador e fiquei impressionado com o seu som. Os aspetos dinâmicos da gravação estão todos lá, só para dar um exemplo no disco de Doug Macleud "there's a time" na 1ª faixa o pedal da bateria é impressionante a marcar o ritmo. A transparência deste amplificador é reveladora a este nível de preços. Supera sem dúvida muitos amplificadores Hi End que tenho ouvido nos últimos tempos. Muito Recomendado. ( devo ressalvar que disponho de condições de audição ideais, nomeadamente a tensão de setor está ao nivel de referência).
